About the service and what to expect
Allsorts Youth Project listens to, supports and connects children and young people under 26 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or exploring their sexual orientation and/or gender identity (LGBT+) and their families.
One-to-one Support Service
Allsorts Youth Support Workers will work with you using a support plan to help you to identify what you need support with to reach your goals. Your support plan will be reviewed at each session and they will work with you to help you reach your goals.
Youth Support Workers are not counsellors however if they feel that a counsellor or another professional would be better placed to give you support, they can discuss those options with you. You can access six individual support sessions over a period of six months with your Youth Support Worker if you need them.
Youth Support Groups
Allsorts Youth Groups are fun and supportive spaces for Sussex-based children and young people to make friends, connect with the LGBT+ community, explore identity and participate in workshops and activities. You will meet in a comfortable & confidential setting with other LGBT+ young people where you can get involved in workshops and activities that matter to and will build your skills, resilience and confidence. Allsorts will also connect you with other professionals and organisations as and where appropriate.
You can expect to get involved in fun, creative and interesting activities, participate in group games and have the opportunity to go on trips and residentials! Allsorts have guests visiting their youth groups from other organisations & services which you may find helpful and interesting, they also offer free food and drink!
All Allsorts staff and volunteers are LGBT+ and are trained to work with young people. There are usually between 2-4 members of staff as well as volunteers helping to run their groups.
Brighton Youth Support Groups are as follows:
- Fortnightly LGBT+ Groups (ages 16-21 + 11-15)
- Monthly Trans, Non-Binary & Gender-Exploring Group (ages 16-21)
