About the service and what to expect
Grassroots is a UK leader in suicide prevention. The charity, based in Brighton, helps to create safe spaces in our communities for Real Talk about suicide. They support people in our communities to become Change Makers: to develop the skills and confidence needed to save lives.
Suicide prevention training
- ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training): Teaches participants to recognise when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety.
- SafeTALK (Suicide Alertness for Everyone): Teaches participants to notice and respond to situations where suicidal thoughts might be present and connect someone at risk to further help.
- Real Talk: Conversations that save lives: Introductory, awareness-raising workshop, which challenges the stigma around suicide and encourages open conversations.
Mental health awareness training
Professionals and volunteers working with people with mental health conditions are invited to access Mental Health First Aid Training courses (two-day course and a half-day course). Participants learn how to identify, understand and help someone who is experiencing a mental health issue.
