About the service and what to expect
Staying Well is provided by Southdown, a Sussex-based housing, care and support provider committed to preventing homelessness and supporting people’s health, wellbeing and independence.
Southdown's Staying Well (Brighton & Hove) service is an out-of-hours mental health crisis prevention service, provided from The Wellbeing Hub at Preston Park.
Open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, the Staying Well service provides psychosocial support and crisis prevention planning. This includes proactively contacting clients who have been referred or self-referred to the service to build crisis plans together, increasing resilience and coping skills.
Individuals can also phone the service directly to self-refer for support when they feel they aren't able to cope or feel they are headed towards a crisis point.
Launched in December 2020, this new Brighton service enhances the current mental health and wellbeing services delivered under the UOK Brighton & Hove network.
Southdown also provides Staying Well services in East Sussex, in partnership with the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and is part of a network of mental health recovery support across the county, called the East Sussex Community Network.
What support is available?
If you need urgent mental health support, outside of normal working hours, the Staying Well service is here for you to get help and advice in a relaxed, friendly and safe environment.
Our team of Recovery Advisors are on-hand to provide non-judgmental support tailored to your needs; whether that’s simply listening or providing more in-depth support. Peer Support Workers (people with lived experience of mental health challenges) are also available to talk to.
The support we provide is based on the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ - connect, take notice, keep learning, be active and give. These steps give people the tools they need to take real control.
Am I eligible?
The service is free and available to adults aged 18 and over with urgent mental health support needs, who are living in Brighton and Hove.
