About the service and what to expect
Switchboard is a charity for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) people looking for community, support or information. The team connect people and support them directly through specially developed Switchboard services or link them to other specialist organisations.
Switchboard’s helpline provides support and information to connect you to the right LGBTQ services or advice.
You can talk confidentially and anonymously about anything that is on your mind.
They support people with a range of questions and believe that listening can help, whether you are looking for information and support or just need someone to talk to.
The helpline is open 7pm to 9.30pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
They are volunteer run and have two listening volunteers on during shifts. If you're unable to get through, please try again. Alternatively, they operate a live webchat service during helpline hours.
For more information and to discuss accessing support from Switchboard please call 0808 196 1768 to speak to a friendly member of our Central Access Point team. Alternatively, if you would prefer, you can arrange a callback.
