Help Make a House a Home Campaign -Seaview Project
27 March 2026
Our lovely partners at Seaview Project we have been supporting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness for 40 years from our open access centre in Central St. Leonard’s where they provide a wide range of health, wellbeing and essential support. The community outreach projects are geared up to engage rough sleepers along with other vulnerable groups to try to link them in with key housing and healthcare services, often lifesaving support.
Alongside this, Seaview also provide a range of services to support other problems their community faces such as addiction and mental health, but unfortunately with recent reports showing that Hastings has dropped to the 14th most deprived local authority in the country, and some wards as low as 7th most deprived out of 33,000 wards, it will come as no surprise that homelessness is on the rise, with approximately 300 rough sleeping locally per year.
Last year we heard testimonies from rough sleepers who had been abused, kicked and punched while they slept, people hiding in case their abusers found them, people whose belongings had been ransacked, or who were so overwhelmed by the stress of being exposed to everything that comes with rough sleeping they felt like ending it all.
This should not be a reality that anyone has to endure.
As a charity that prides itself on improving lives, Seaview wants to utilise our experience and expertise to contribute to reducing the suffering of those surviving on our streets.
A letter from Dave, Seaview Project Chief Officer : Seaview has been fortunate to purchase a property in St. Leonards to develop into a new home in which will provide 9 rooms where people can live while they explore options for long term accommodation using the amazing support offered by Seaview staff and volunteers. You can read more about the project here: https://www.seaviewproject.co.uk/fundraising/
How can you help Seaview is seeking our communities support to help fund the renovation of the property. We will create a supportive and safe living space which you can help support by donating at the following link: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/make-a-house-a-home
Your donations will make a huge difference helping to renovate and furnish the property including: creating a wonderful open plan kitchen, converting living spaces to bedrooms, redoing and creating new bathrooms, making bike storage, solar heating, new windows and much more!
While we cannot mitigate all potential troubles, or undo the trauma, deprivation or multiple disadvantage that all too often predicated homelessness, you could help us provide a safe and supportive accommodation that can significantly improve people’s health and wellbeing.
Yours sincerely,
Dave Perry Seaview Project Chief Officer
