About the service

The East Sussex Neighbourhood Wellbeing Service provides local mental health and wellbeing support across East Sussex. It is designed to make it easier to access support when you need it.

The service is part of UOK, a partnership of organisations working together to support mental health and wellbeing across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex.

This service is also a part of the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team approach, where NHS, GP, community and voluntary partners work together to offer joined-up support. Our focus is to help you get the right help, centred on what matters to you, without needing to retell your story or navigate multiple services.

How to access support

The East Sussex Neighbourhood Wellbeing Service is available to adults, 18 and over, living in East Sussex who are currently struggling with their mental health and wellbeing.

Walk-in Welcome Sessions

Our walk-in welcome sessions offer a simple way to access support without a referral or waiting list. You can drop in, speak with someone from the team, and explore what support may be helpful for you and your wellbeing.

You do not need to book to attend an in-person session.

Current session schedule

The first walk-in welcome sessions begin the week commencing 18 May 2026 and will continue every Monday through June.

Hastings
Mondays from 18 May 2026
11am – 2pm

Eastbourne
Mondays from 18 May 2026
11am – 2pm

The schedule for other hub locations will be added here soon.

What to expect

At a welcome session, you can:

  • Talk through how you have been feeling
  • Find out about local wellbeing and mental health support
  • Explore possible next steps at your own pace
  • Ask questions in a relaxed and supportive environment

Weekend telephone appointments will also be available to book for those who may find this easier to access.

If you’re on the NHS Serious Mental Illness (SMI) register

If you have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or experience psychosis, you can access specialist support following your annual NHS Physical Health Check — helping you act on the results and stay connected to the right care.

Support is offered through short-term sessions, face-to-face or remotely, at locations across East Sussex including GP practices.

This is available through a referral from your GP or mental health team, including Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Did you previously use the Health and Wellbeing or Screen and Intervene service? This support continues. It’s now part of the East Sussex Neighbourhood Wellbeing Service. Contact your local hub if you have any questions.

Not sure if this is right for you? Come along to a walk-in welcome session — the team can talk it through with you, no referral needed.
