Brighton & Hove Recovery College, led by UOK’s lead provider Southdown and in partnership with the NHS Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust, is excited to announce an Open Day event to kick off the Autumn term. The Open Day will take place on on Wednesday 3rd September ‘25 at the Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton, BN1 1YD, from 11:00 – 3:00

What is the Recovery College?
The Recovery College offers free courses and workshops aimed at helping individuals with mental health challenges take control of their self-care and recovery journey. These courses are specifically designed for those aged 18 and over, living in Brighton and Hove, who have mental health support needs. Carers and mental health professionals are also encouraged to participate.

If you are new to the College, the Open Day provides an excellent opportunity to talk to both trainers and current students to gain a deeper understanding of what the College offers. If you’re unable to attend, don’t worry—course enrolment begins on the same day, with details updated on our website.

The full timetable for Autumn Term will be published and emailed shortly before Open Day, but to give you a flavour of what’s coming we have some exciting new courses & workshops including ADHD, Painting with Acrylics, and Exploring Needle Felting, along with some returning favourites including Surviving Christmas, Understanding & Managing Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), Introduction to Mindfulness, and Caring for Carers.
Eligibility:
The Recovery College is open to people aged 18+ who live in Brighton and Hove and are seeking mental health support. The Open Day is a great way to find out if these courses are right for you or someone you care for.
Enrolment:
The enrolment window for the Autumn Term will open on Wednesday 3rd September.
The enrolment form will be available from our website (Brighton & Hove Recovery College – Southdown) to either download or complete electronically, or alternatively an enrolment form can be completed and submitted at Open Day. Enrolment forms need to be completed and submitted by Monday 15th September ’25, term will then start on Monday 29th September.
