A newly updated version of the How Are You Really Feeling? mental health signposting resource has been launched by the Sussex Mental Health Services Communications (MHSC) Group, with improvements designed to make support easier to find for everyone – especially people who are digitally excluded, neurodivergent, and those who may feel less confident using English.
First launched in December 2024, the campaign was designed to help amplify new local mental health signposting information. In response to feedback that people found it challenging to find the right local support, the information was co-produced by people with lived experience, service providers and partner organisations

A clearer, simpler, more human approach
Partners across Sussex came together to create clear, consistent and clinically reviewed signposting content, based on how people are feeling rather than professional or organisational terminology. This co-produced content avoids complex service language and focuses instead on real-life experiences and needs.
These updates mark a step forward in making mental health information across Sussex clearer, more inclusive and easier for everyone to use. Improvements include refreshed language and visuals and printed and translated materials – helping ensure that no one is left behind when looking for support.
Visit www.how-are-you-really-feeling-sussex.nhs.uk, where you can also download a partner toolkit to help share the resource.
Different leaflets are now available for Brighton & Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex to make it easier for people to find and access local support services.
To make mental health information across Sussex clearer and easier for everyone to use, the resources have also been translated into five additional languages: Arabic, Farsi, Polish, Ukrainian and Bengali. Find translated materials here
